Generally, cell coverage of mobile network is determined by SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio). In CDMA network, SNR is varied according to traffic load, and this effect changes cell coverage and handover area.
Handover is an essential technology in CDMA network and provides better performance in reverse link by diversity gain but increases interference and reduces capacity in forward link. So it is very needed to keep proper handover area according to traffic load.
In this paper, we propose and analyze HTL(Handover parameter optimization considering Traffic Load) scheme for CDMA network. HTL scheme calculates SNR gain according to traffic load variance in various radio environments of base station and applies this SNR gain to handover parameter optimization. Using HTL scheme, handover area is kept properly and forward link capacity is increased.
Handover area ratio and cell capacity are analyzed and compared by computer simulation. And we conclude that cell capacity is improved in case that proposed HTL scheme is applied to CDMA network.
