Forming curved plate in shipbuilding requires two main processes. One is roll bending process and the other is heating process. Second process of two is more difficult, because heating process depends on the experience of workers. Therefore, there are much variation between workers and difficulties to communicate the know-how of heating plan with each other. This thesis proposes Heating Plan System (HPS) which gives the heating plan for heating process using case based reasoning (CBR). This thesis deals with the three issues (1) case representation, (2) case retrieve, (3) case adaptation applied to heating process for doubly curved ship hull plate. In case representation, case is defined with problem and solution for heating process. In case retrieve, case grouping, similarity function and weight adjusting are accomplished. Then the most similar case is retrieved from case base. Finally in case adaptation, how to use the retrieved case is decided. The prototype HPS has been applied to a domestic ship building company, and proved to be useful in capturing the know-how of heating experts and reuse it.
