The user interfaces of electronics and software programs evolve extending its functions to satisfy the customer needs. When a new function or an interface feature is introduced, however, the consistency of user interaction method is likely to be hampered. This may weaken the user’s strategy or mental model used in the interaction. The UI designer should therefore maintain the consistency of interaction methods in spite of the increasing number of possible tasks. OCD(Operation and control diagram), an operation-oriented diagrammatic modeling tool, can help the designer in this situation.
For quantitative and automatic analysis, OCD needs to be converted into a script language. This research suggests an extendible script, OCS(Operation and control script), that can convey all procedural knowledge and operation characteristics in OCD. This research also develops utilities that help analyze the interaction procedures represented in OCS.
