The thrust estimation plays an important role in performance evaluation of a rocket motor because the thrust force has a great effect on acceleration of the carrier vehicle. Therefore, it is important that thrust can accurately be measured in order to develop a rocket motor applicable to spacecrafts or guided missiles.
Generally thrust is measured by a trust stand. This thrust stand uses strain gauges and measures forces and moments without the dynamic modeling of a thrust measurement system. Measured data include system dynamic characteristics such as a phase delay and pass band ripple. In order to eliminate the system dynamic characteristics we need to design a filter which includes system dynamic characteristics. In this paper, we propose a modeling scheme for thrust measurement system and develop a method for estimating true thrust eliminating the thrust measurement system dynamic characteristics from the measurement system.
