Solid fuel burns generally in the type of bed. Sold fuel bed has some differences in type, boundary condition and etc. But combustion process and kinetics of heat and material transfer are similar. So many solid fuel bed combustion models have been developed.
In this study, 2 dimensional solid fuel combustion model is described. We assume sold phase and gas phase as homogeneous continuum. And general equations are constructed in each phase. Drying, devolatilization, combustion and heat transfer are expressed in source terms.
This model is applied to coking process in the coke oven. Coking process is the thermal decomposition of bituminous coal with final temperatures of about 900'C. Coking process include many complex phenomena such as swelling, soften, resolidfication and shrinkage. We simplify this process. Change in phase and geometry are ignored. And We consider drying, pyrolysis and heat transfer. And simulated results are compared with experimental result in coke oven and reference. The result shows resonable trend.
