At present there are approximately from 80 million to 100 million landmines laid around the world in 65 countries, because of many kinds of conflict. About 26 thousands of people are damaged by landmines every year. It is very important to detect and clear mines safely without the harms in the demining process. Many kinds of methods using unmanned equipments are used and under development for demining. The Flail systems and the Tiller systems remove mines by explosion and the large rake systems remove mines by scratching the ground. But the environment can be destroyed by the explosive demining system and the demining system also can be destroyed by the explosion. And the large rake demining systems cannot clear the small anti personnel mine. In this paper, a new demining system which is adaptable to tracked mobile robot is developed to clear the small anti personnel mines with inexplosive method. The principle of the new system is that the rakes unearth the small anti personnel mine by counterclockwise rotation. The motions of the demining rake and the design parameters of the demining system are analyzed. It also shows that the new demining system can unearth the small anti personnel mines with inexplosive method.
