In this study, new blue luminescent materials containing N-O type ligands were synthesized and their optical properties were measured. The ligands were Hq(8-hydroxyquinoline) and Hpp(2-(2-pyridyl)phenol).
In the case of Hq, a set of new Hq’HX(Hq derivatives linked by HCl and HBr) compounds was prepared. The photoluminescent(PL) spectra of these compounds show red-shift to the visible blue region from those of bare Hq. Their maximum emission is about at 490 nm.
The ligand Hpp has a larger π-π* energy gap than Hq. B and Li compounds including pp were synthesized. They exhibit deep blue emission at 450 nm and 465 nm, respectively and are expected to be a candidate for the good blue EL material.
