In this thesis, we mainly focus on three subjects: First, we shall be establishing the connection between congruent numbers and a certain family of elliptic curves, and describing some basic properties of elliptic curves. Second, we shall focus on determining "rank" which is much more difficult than finding the torsion group. Finally, we shall describe some basic properties of modular form and construct a quotient space $Γ_0(N)＼\mathfrak{H}^*$ and give a formula to calculate cusps and genera.
본 학위논문에서는 타원곡선의 기본적인 성질에 대해 알아 보았고, 합동수와 타원곡선과의 관계를 살펴 보았으며 곡선위의 비틀림이 없는 군에 대한 정보를 제시했다. 마지막으로 보형형식의 기본적인 성질을 이용해서 상공간 $Γ_0(N)＼\mathfrak{H}^*$ 을 만들고, 그 상공간의 첨점의 개수와 종수를 계산 할 수 있는 공식을 알아 보았다.
