As the time-to-market gets more important for competitiveness of a enterprise, it becomes important to shorten the development cycle of a product in manufacturing industries. Reuse of existing design information is required for faster development. We can save time and reduce design mistakes when we reuse existing design information in the design process. We call this method of reusing the design information as “configuration design”. To design a product based on the configuration design, standard parts should be parametrically modified according to the design requirements.
There are difficulties in building up a library of all the necessary combination using a CAD system, since we have too many combinations of components for a mold product, especially a mold base. For example, there are at least 80 million combinations of components on a page of catalog of a mold base.
In this thesis, to solve this problem, we studied the automatic generation of CAD models of mold base using the method of table parametric. Desired combinations of mold base can be generated by mapping between a classification system in an electric catalog and the design parameter set of table parametric. Also we suggested the way how to select table parametric models and to construct the design parameter set.
