We have fabricated large-scale silica nanowires by chemical vapor transport and condensation(CVTC) system. The shapes of synthesized nanostructures are similar to wild flowers such as a daisy. Ga droplets, used as catalyst, for growth of silica nanowires are dispersed on the Si substrate. Silicons in this silica nanowires supplied by the solid silicon substrate. These nanostructures are better explained by 'zipper-like growth mechanism' than conventional vertical growth mechanism.
