In this thesis we study superbridge index of knots and examine some of its properties and relations with other knot invariants. Also we calculate superbridge index for some knots.
In Chapter 1 we introduce definitions, notions and terminology and investigate some relations between superbridge index and other knot invariants. In Chapter 2 we present two moves on knots which do not increase the superbridge numbers. In Chapter 3 we examine knots having odd superbridge index and show that there are only finitely many knots with superbridge index 3. Moreover, we show that the list {$3_1, 4_1, 5_2, 6_1, 6_2, 6_3, 7_2, 7_3, 7_4, 8_4, 8_7, 8_9$} contains all knots with superbridge index 3. And we get a new upper bound for superbridge index related with bridge index. In chapter 4 we consider the connected sums of two knots and introduce some results about the superbridge index for composite knots. Also we study marginal knots and strongly marginal knots and propose some problems about those knots. In Chapter 5 we supply the best known estimates of the superbridge index for all prime knots up to nine crossings.
이 논문에서는 매듭의 초교각지수에 관해서 연구한다. 매듭의 초교각지수가 가지는 성질과 초교각지수와 다른 매듭불변량과의 관계를 살펴보고 특정한 매듭들의 초교각지수를 계산한다.
1장에서는 이 논문에서 사용하는 기호, 용어와 개념들을 정의하고 초교각지수와 다른 매듭불변량과의 관련성을 조사한다. 2장에서는 주어진 매듭의 초교각수를 변하지 않게 하는 두 가지 변형에 대해서 살펴본다. 3장에서는 홀수 초교각지수를 갖는 매듭에 대해 연구하고 특히 초교각지수가 3인 매듭은 유한하며 집합 {$3_1, 4_1, 5_2, 6_1, 6_2, 6_3, 7_2, 7_3, 7_4, 8_4, 8_7, 8_9$} 이 초교각지수가 3인 매듭을 모두 포함하고 있음을 보인다. 또한 매듭의 교각지수와 관련된 새로운 초교각지수의 상한을 제시한다. 4장에서는 매듭의 연결합의 초교각지수에 대해 살펴보고 특히 교각지수와 초교각지수가 1 차이나는 한계매듭에 대해 연구하며 이와 관련된 문제들을 제시한다. 5장에서는 최근까지 밝혀진 엇갈림수 9 까지의 매듭들의 초교각지수표를 제시한다.
