Even though voice traffic is currently dominant in wireless communication networks, a traffic demand for Internet services is rapidly increasing. In wireless packet services, data traffic in downlink is significantly larger than in uplink. Therefore, there is a need for new packet transmission technologies in downlink. High Speed Downlink Packet Access(HSDPA) in WCDMA as specified by 3GPP is introduced to satisfy this demand.
In this thesis, the performace of HSDPA systems is evaluated by link-level simulation as well as system-level simulation based on various traditional schedulers. In addition, a multicode subgrouping scheduling scheme is proposed to complement the weakness of each scheduler and its performance is compared to the results of other schedulers.
