Nowadays mega-mergers among telecommunication industries are occurring throughout the world. The telecommunications industry, in particular service field, requires strategic alliances to secure and maintain the growth & survival.
This thesis attempts to find out Strategic Alliance Model for the Korean Telecommunications Carriers. First, based on the existing theory from different perspectives about strategic alliance, define the strategic alliance. Second, analyze the case study on the existing alliance such as the major carrier's Merger & Acquisition. Third, recommend Strategic Alliance Model for the Korean Telecommunications Carriers. Finally it applies the practical implication.
It has become an urgent request for the Korean Telecommunications Carriers to switch from market oriented strategic alliance to technology driven strategic alliance as a balanced corporate business strategy toward the future. As part of the solution for this, the Korean Telecommunications Carriers are asked to establish R&D alliance with Mega Carriers especially focusing on 3 Generation & Internet technology.
