The current wide use of wireless mobile devices, such as PDAs, notebook, digital camera and mobile phone, are making the ad hoc network more important than ever. So it raises many research activities in this area. And there are many efforts to construct wireless ad hoc network using both IEEE802.11 and Bluetooth. Especially newly introduced Bluetooth technology is expected to be a good alternative.
But there are many difficulties to adapt current IP based applications to Blue-tooth ad hoc network, because this ad hoc network is based on asymmetric and multi hop connection. So application layer researches are needed to solve these problems. But many of the current researches focus on lower layers only.
In this paper, we present the concept that cross layer optimization is a good solution. We target and model CIFS protocol over Bluetooth scatternet, and detect detailed problems. We optimize browser server deployment and bridge node's hold scheme by using cross layer reference. And we present the evaluation result about performance enhancement.
