The paradigm of computer environment is shifting along the development of technology from the mainframe computer environment that was mainly used for the calculations related in military and academic researches, to the desktop PC environment that serves for the office-related-works and even for the entertainment. In this paradigm shift, mobile computer, ubiquitous computer, virtual reality are spotlighted as the computer environment for the next generation. Especially wearable computer, the main media in next computer environment, is the maximized form of mobile computer in portability. And, it also serves as media, which realize virtual reality and as interface between ubiquitous computer and users. The wearable computers that are attached on users' body like clothes form tight relationships with them for a long period of time. The originality of thus characteristic is that it needs a new re-establishment of the relationship between human and computer, and that it requires new mutual interactions based on this new re-establishment.
Hence, the objective of this paper is to propose a concept of interaction of wearable computer and to realize the concept. In chapter two, the user-environment and the characteristics of wearable computer will be studied. And the concept of wearable computer will as well be introduced based on these studies. In chapter three, the basis to propose new interaction concept will be established by scrutinizing case studies and concepts of interaction of original wearable computer. And in chapter four, The context-aware interaction including user modeling as the new concept of mutual interaction of wearable computer, will be suggested in the context of wearable computer design. Synthesizing all chapters, in chapter five that is about the case studies, suggested interaction concept is put into detailed shape with scenarios, and among them, one case study is selected and actualized. The selected scenario talks about how to provide situational information of the user's changing interests as his/her changes locations.
This research suggests the possibility of applying the concept of interaction by actualizing case studies after establishing the new concept of mutual interactions that is suitable for the shifting paradigm of computer environment.
