In wireless mobile ad-hoc networks, two essential issues are QoS routing and power management. Much related work has mainly been dealt with one issue of these two. In this thesis, we try to bring the concept of power management into the QoS routing problem in ad-hoc networks. That is, we propose an on-demand QoS routing protocol based on transmitter power adjustment in ad-hoc networks. The main idea is to adjust the transmitting nodes' powers used when transferring their data packets. Considering a wireless environment sufficiently, all of the mobile nodes select channels (or time slots) for data transfer using a criterion of carrier-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (CINR). These adjusted powers on reserved slots are calculated during a route construction phase. Using lower power can increase channel reuse, and thus channel utilization. It also saves the precious battery energy of portable devices and reduces co-channel interference with other neighboring nodes. In addition, multiple routes are supported in order to increase call admission ratio. Simulation results show the advantages of our protocol as compared with the other protocol in which all of the mobile nodes use the same and maximum transmitter power like previous works. In particular, about only 35% power is consumed.
