A downlink simulator of the wideband code division multiple access(WCDMA) system is implemented based on 3rd Generation Partnership Project(3GPP) standards in order to evaluate the downlink performance in dedicated physical channel(DPCH) and physical downlink shared channel(PDSCH). The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error rate(BER) and block error rate(BLER) for various data rates and channel coding schemes. In addition, when a new multiplexing scheme called the orthogonal code hopping multiplexing(OCHM) is applied to physical downlink shared channel(DSCH), the performance in PDSCH based on OCHM is evaluated and compared with that in PDSCH based on the orthogonal code division multiplexing(OCDM) scheme in various wireless channel environments.
