Functioning with money value stored in IC chips or PCs in the form of an electronic signal, electronic money(e-money) not only eliminates the inconveniences related to the use of cash, but also makes payments for commerce much easier. In foreign countries, e-money began to be introduced as early as the mid-1990s. Currently, in Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Singapore and Hong Kong, nationwide e-money projects are in operation.
Recently, e-money has begun to be introduced in the domestic market. Banks and credit card companies are introducing card-type e-money. With the rapid expansion of e-commerce, network-type e-money is also actively being developed and distributed. And e-money companies are seriously competing to capture the domestic market.
The age of e-money is expected to be coming soon with the usefulness of e-money. And this will seem to make many changes in our lives with a new paradigm, as e-money is utilized in many fields,.
The purpose of this paper is to forecast the relevant demand of e-money in the domestic market and analyze the influence of e-money diffusion on the commerce. First of all, an overview of e-money is provided in order to get a better understanding of e-money. And this study with a procedure and a method using survey data tries to forecast the demand of e-money that there are no data related to. And then this paper considers how the widespread use of e-money will affect the commerce entities, environments and activities.
