In this study, we prepared Indium Tin Oxide(ITO) sol for electrically conductive transparent coating. ITO nano powder was dispersed in organic medium such as ethanol or N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF) and was formed ITO sol. We used titanium coupling agent(T2) as a dispersant for ITO sol. titanium coupling agent was adsorbed on the surface of ITO and gives ITO particles steric hindrance.
we estimate ITO sol by electrically conductive transparent coating on the cathode-ray tube(CRT). As the concentration of T2 increases, the surface resistance increases and the reflectance decreases. as the particle size is larger than 100nm, CRT looks white because of light scattering. As the particle size of ITO dispersion becomes smaller, the surface resistance increases and the reflectance decreases.
We estimated stability of ITO sol by the measurement of particle sizes with storage time. As the concentration of T2 was less than 1.0% of ITO weight, ITO dispersion became unstable. Dispersion stability was approved by lowering the polarity of the dispersion medium.
Adsorbed T2 on the face of ITO reduces secondary particle sizes and approves dispersion stability but works as a resistance and make film strength weak.
