Knowledge Management is one of the major concerns to the companies that want to keep growing and even to survive. In this study we try to find the factors that influence appraisal and reward satisfaction in knowledge management, and to observe whether appraisal and reward satisfaction is related to employees’ commitment to knowledge management.
We developed two kinds of questionnaires. One is for gathering employees’ perception on result and procedural validity, process recognition, reward justness, appraisal and reward satisfaction, and commitment in knowledge management. The other is for gathering facts such as number of knowledge object appraised, number of sorts of reward, frequency of reward, and the range of result openness. In order to gather data, we contacted 146 companies and received 46 responses. Analyzing valid 38 data we found that only result validity and reward justness are affecting employees appraisal and reward satisfaction. Also, appraisal and reward satisfaction is related to employees’ commitment to knowledge management.
This study suggests that increasing appraisal and reward satisfaction increases employees’ commitment to knowledge management. Also, in order to increase appraisal and reward satisfaction, companies should keep checking result validity of appraisal, and reward justness.
