Recently, many enterprises have attempted to construct hypermedia information systems(HISs) for electronic commerce innovation by the use of Web technologies. In this hypermedia-enabled environment, HISs on the basis of business processes have drawn more attentions for the effective support of organizational tasks. Accordingly, the use of organizational hypermedia documents (OHDs) grows explosively along with the HISs. Nevertheless, methodologies for developing these systems are rare. Especially, the workflow-based aspects of hypermedia systems are not emphasized. OHDs need to be managed effectively for their maintenance.
Therefore, this dissertation proposes a HIS development methodology from a workflow perspective. Furthermore, a meta-information system is proposed to help manage OHDs effectively. The proposed methodology, called WHDM(Workflow-Based Hypermedia Development Methodology), is based on the workflow analysis in order to guide developers in creating process-oriented hypermedia information systems. The methodology employs a workflow model based on corporate documents, and is thus more likely to utilize users' business requirements in a natural fashion. The methodology consists of four phases: workflow analysis, document analysis, hypermedia design, and implementation. The emphasis of each phase is on aligning business requirements with hypermedia technical details. To demonstrate the practical usefulness of the methodology, a real-life case is illustrated.
A workflow model employed in WHDM can capture HIS requirements simultaneously in terms of data flow, users and their task. The results of this analysis help derive navigational views and design a database to be integrated with OHDs. Furthermore, WHDM considers security problems in design works. Therefore, it can be employed effectively in developing a process-oriented system for organization businesses.
The proposed meta-information system, called HyDoMiS(Hyperdocument Meta-information System), is constructed on the basis of metadata required for managing OHDs. HyDoMiS performs three functions: metadata management, search, and reporting. The metadata management function is concerned with workflow, documents, and databases. The system is more likely to help implement and maintain HISs effectively.
최근, 전자상거래의 확산과 더불어 많은 기업에서는 인트라넷 (intranet) 또는 엑스트라넷 (extranet)에 기반한 하이퍼미디어 시스템 구축에 많은 노력을 기울이고 있다. 하이퍼미디어 기술은 네트워크 기반의 환경에서 효과적인 구현이 가능하고 데이터베이스와의 효율적인 연동이 가능하여, 기업의 업무 흐름에 따른 정보처리를 지원하기 위한 새로운 정보시스템의 유형으로 자리잡아가고 있다. 이와 같은 프로세스 지향적인 하이퍼미디어 정보시스템 (Hypermedia Information System: HIS)의 증가와 더불어 이러한 시스템의 인터페이스로 사용되는 조직 하이퍼미디어 문서 (또는 하이퍼문서)들도 급증하고 있다. 조직 하이퍼문서 (Organizational Hyperdocument: OHD)는 주로 기업의 업무수행을 위한 각종 양식(form)에 기반한 형태로 활용되고 있다. 그런데 아직까지 이와 같은 하이퍼미디어 정보시스템 구축을 위한 효과적인 방법론 및 OHD의 체계적인 관리를 위한 방안은 미약하다.
따라서, 본 논문에서는 “워크플로우 기반 하이퍼미디어 정보시스템 개발방법론 (Workflow-Based Hypermedia Development Methodology: WHDM)"과 조직하이퍼문서를 효과적으로 유지보수할 수 있는 “하이퍼문서 메타정보시스템 (Hyperdocu-ment Meta-information System: HyDoMiS)"을 제시한다.
WHDM은 문서 기반의 워크플로우 모형을 활용함으로써 비즈니스 요구사항을 효과적인 방식으로 구현할 수 있다. 본 방법론은 크게 워크플로우 분석, 문서 분석, 하이퍼미디서 설계, 그리고 구현의 네 단계로 구성되는데, 각 단계는 비즈니스 요구사항을 하이퍼미디어 특성에 맞도록 반영하는데 초점을 두고 있다. 본 방법론의 실질적인 유용성을 입증하기 위하여, 실제 사례를 적용하여 설명하였다.
WHDM의 워크플로우 모형을 활용하여 데이터의 흐름, 사용자, 태스크 등과 관련한 하이퍼미디어 정보시스템의 요구사항을 동시에 파악할 수 있고, 이를 토대로 네비게이션 뷰의 도출과 OHD 와 연동되는 데이터베이스를 설례를 효과적으로 수행할 수 있다. 더욱이, WHDM은 구현단계에서 기술적 문제로만 전제되어왔던 보안 문제를 설계 단계에서부터 고려함으로써, 보안에 대한 요구사항을 보다 체계적으로 반영할 수 있다. 따라서, WHDM 은 프로세스를 지원할 수 있는 HIS 개발을 효과적으로 지원할 수 있다.
제시된 HyDoMiS 는 조직 하이퍼문서를 관리하는데 필요한 메타데이터를 기반으로 구현되었다. HyDoMiS는 크게 메타데이터 관리, 탐색, 리포팅과 같은 세 가지 기능으로 구성된다. 메타데이터 관리 기능은 워크플로우, 문서, 그리고 데이터베이스에 관한 것으로 구분된다. HyDoMiS 는 웹 서버로 개발되었으며, 주요 사용자인 시스템 관리자 및 개발자의 하이퍼미디어 정보시스템 유지보수 활동을 효과적으로 지원할 수 있다.
