WDA technologies provide great bandwidth expansion to the backbone networks. Through taffic engineering, we can improve the utilization of the network resources and optimize the performance of networks.
In this paper, we suggest an integrated traffic engineering model of IP/WDA network using MPLS-OMP and WDM reconfiguratiion simutaneously which have been suggested as traffic engineering methods in IP layer and in WDM layer, respectively. MPLS_OMP does load balancing by making the flows running through heavily loaded links take longer but less loaded paths. This helps entire network accommodate more traffic. When a flow grows beyond the capacity of minimum cut and load sharing cannot provide required bandwidth, we can add new logical links and expand bandwidth by WDM reconfituration. By using MPLS control plane to coordinate traffic engineering method in IP layer and that in WDM layer, we can get the link load imformation and determine the time WDM reconfigutation should occur.
And, we evaluate the performance of this model in comparison with others by simulation.
