This thesis derives four types of knowledge management strategy including aggressive strategy, personalization strategy using internal source, codification strategy using external source, and passive strategy in 115 Korean companies. Financial measure and non-financial measure are used to compare performance among knowledge management strategy type. To compare organizational and technical characteristics, variables found in literature are used. The study results imply that companies following aggressive knowledge management strategy relatively outperform other companies, and companies following aggressive knowledge management strategy have decentralized organization structure, collaborative and learning atmosphere, and sophisticated information technology infrastructure. Besides aggressive knowledge management strategy, personalization strategy using internal source have strength in cultural factor, and codification strategy using external source have strength in technical factor. Among the eight organizational and technical characteristic variables, influence of learning and development variable is the strongest on determining knowledge management strategy.
