A study on the fluid-structure interaction using LSFEM is presented. To analyze fluid-structure interaction effectively, LSFEM is introduced in analyzing the fluid region. The adequateness and effectiveness of the suggested method are verified by some examples. Also a remeshing algorithm for the fluid region is suggested.
Assuming steady state incompressible viscous flow, the fluid region is formulated using LSFEM. The structure region is restricted in plane strain problem including nonlinear behavior, and is analyzed by using commercial code(ABAQUS). To verify the adequateness of the formulation using LSFEM, internal flow and external flow are analyzed. With relatively smaller degrees of freedom, LSFEM yields quite accurate results. The results are verified by comparing with references. In fluid-structure interaction analysis, the flow around a slender structure and the flow rate of microvalve are analyzed. The results are verified by comparing with analytical solutions.
