A new Hangul character box for automated form processing is proposed in this paper. We believe that characters with their graphemes well-separated are easier to be recognized, and our design goal is better separation among graphemes. Based on the fact that people hesitate to write a stroke across an obstacle, obstacles are placed in certain parts of a box that are seldom occupied and that are borders between graphemes. This forces writers to avoid crossing it, and hence aids writers in writing graphemes separately. We experimented with three variations of such designs, and the result was promising. A recognizer that can fully exploit this fact will be developed in the near future.
본 논문에서는 자동 인식을 위한 한글 필기 상자 디자인을 제안하였다. 한글에서는 자모를 분리할 수 있으면 인식을 쉽게 할 수 있으므로, 자모를 분리하도록 제약을 가하는 필기 상자를 디자인하였다. 필기 상자 안에 장애물이 놓여 있을 때, 그것을 피해서 필기한다는 경향에 근거하여, 획이 드물게 그어지면서 자모를 나누는 위치에 장애물을 두었다. 이는 사람들이 장애물을 피해 필기함으로써, 자모를 분리하여 쓰도록 의도한 것이다. 본 논문에서는 세 가지 디자인의 필기 상자로 디자인하였고 자모 분리율에 상당한 향상을 얻었다.제안된 필기 상자에 따른 필기 유형을 흡수할 수 있는 인식기의개발이 필요하다.
