Electronic Commerce(EC) has been adopted as a new business opportunity in these days. However, there have less research on the EC adoption to the company while so many research have focused on technical issues of EC. Since each business organization has different business strategy and encounters different situation, each one requires its own EC functions for the application. In this research, we aim to suggest EC adoption model based on the task characteristics of each organization. For this purpose, first, we proposed a technological framework of EC from the value chain perspective. Second, we considered how we can analyze the task characteristics. Compared to the previous IS analysis method, it requires analyses about the task procedure, its content, and EC-related requirements. Third, based on the organization's task characteristics and the technological framework, we developed a EC adoption model by matching them. For the validation test about the proposed adoption model, we applied it to a real trading company. Finally, we suggested the adoption strategy based on the model.
This research has an implication in that the proposed EC adoption model is useful in planning and applying the EC technology to the comapny for the strategic use.
