These days the technological and industrial integration makes rapid progress due to the advances of digital technologies in the telecommunications industry and the revision of Telecommunications Act of the United States and the agreement on WTO basic telecommunication negotiations resulted in the unification of the global telecommunication market. Also, Korea is opening the domestic telecommunication market rapidly as the result of IMF relief funding and the "First Domestic Competition, Second International Competition" structure was established.
Now it is time for corporations to adopt alliance as a strategic survival tool. Therefore, the contents of this thesis are as follows. First, this thesis analyzes the effects of the market openness in the domestic and international market resulted from WTO telecommunication negotiation agreement. Second, the change direction of the global telecommunication service market structure and regulation environments of the future is examined. Third, the domestic and international alliance cases done by Korea Telecom are analyzed with their motives, types and strategic objective of the company. Finally, based on the result of the above analyses, the suggestive things of the future alliance strategies for Korea Telecom are proposed.
