The purpose of this study is to identify key success factors among characteristics, actives, and performance by the management innovation types where two dimensions of the scope of change and the degree of change are considered. This research includes cases of two broad innovations, one narrow innovation and one narrow improvement.
This study has three major parts.
First, a conceptual model for systematic management innovation is developed upon reviews on previous researches and literatures.
Second, case studies are performed. The studies include two broad innovation programs, one narrow innovation program, and one narrow improvement program.
Third, key success factors are identified by the dimension of individual and team, organization, and environment.
The major findings of this thesis are as followings :
1) For individual and team dimension, Key success facors are high degree of top management support and participation, commitment and multi-disciplinarity of the innovation team, and consulting support for the broad innovation. Key success facors are high degree of commitment from the implementation team in business level and aggressive support from staff organization for narrow innovation and narrow improvement.
2) For organizational dimension, Broad Innovation requires well prepared infrastructure of strategy, resources, organizational structure, internal communication, and culture. Narrow Innovation requires high level of resources and external communication. Narrow Innovation requires well-coordinated organizational structure, internal communication, and proper culture.
3) For environmental dimension, Broad Innovation requires high degree of preparedness to environmental change. Narrow Innovation and Narrow Improvement require high degree of competitiveness and learning capability. Customer satisfaction is important in all the dimensions.
4) For relationship among management innovation types, it is important that the corporate level organizations and the business organizations maintain close cooperations. The corporate level organization should encourage the business level organization for a successful management innovation programs. The preceding management innovation programs give significant effects on the following program's success.
This thesis suggests strategies of a dynamic management innovation from the stone findings.
1) It is necessary to integrate the various innovation programs to maximize synergy effects.
2) The result of management innovation programs should connect in customer satisfaction.
3) It is important to closely link individual(team) dimension and organizational dimension for a successful management innovation programs.
