Under the object of effectively employing the armed forces, the army is planning policies which considers the effectiveness and efficiency in the employment of the armed forces in the present time when the efficient use of the national defense budget is required due to the current trend in decrease in the amount of expenditure for national defense and the public opinion.
Propelling the policy that deals with such efficiency issues will be impossible to achieve without the concern and research in the area of weapon system acquisition contract system.
Thus this research, under the background of general understanding in the present acquisition contract system, tries to point out the problems of current army and as a practically alternative proposal, suggests a desirable acquisition contract system.
Especially, by focusing on the acquisition contract of battleship which is a complex body of weapon system, I analyzed the characteristics and the problems of incentive contract which has only few actual usage among the 9 acquisition contract forms of present job order contract method and also compared the acquisition contract system of the USA and Korea, thus examining the defense industry market environment to which incentive contract can be applied.
And the research suggests the strategic incentive of the Ministry of National Defense that can allow the incentive contract forms to be practically used in the real world by applying the fundamental concept of game theory
