We present a model for serial production lines with unreliable ordinary machines, unreliable quality inspection machines and finite buffers. The model of serial production lines is extended to cyclic production lines with unreliable machines, finite buffers and a fixed number of pallets. We suggest a simple approximation method with an error bound for the throughput analysis of serial and cyclic production lines. Based on the approximation method, we propose an analytic method for the optimal buffer allocation problem to obtain a desired throughput of serial production lines. Also, we analyze the property of the solution for the buffer allocation problem. In addition, we show how the throughput of cyclic production lines depends on the fixed number of pallets and suggest an analytic method to calculate the optimal number of pallets which maximizes the throughput. We prove there exists an absolute optimal number of pallets independent of the machine parameters for arbitrary cyclic production lines. The results of computer simulations show the suggested methods are valid.
信賴性이 없는 普通의 機械와 不良檢出機械 그리고 有限버퍼로 構成된 直列 生産시스템에 관한 모델을 提示한다. 그리고 直列 生産시스템의 모델을 信賴性이 없는 機械와 有限버퍼로 構成된 循環 生産시스템으로 擴張한다. 두 生産시스템의 出力解析에 관하여 簡單한 近似方法을 誤差限度를 明示하여 提示한다. 提示된 近似方法을 基盤으로 直列 生産시스템의 원하는 出力을 滿足시키는 最適 버퍼配置問題에 대하여 解析的인 方法을 提示하며 그 最適解의 特性을 解析한다. 그리고, 循環 生産시스템의 出力과 固定된 數의 pallet과의 依存性을 보이고 出力을 最大化시키는 pallet의 最適數를 提示하며 任意의 循環 生産시스템에 대하여 機械變數와 相關없는 pallet의 絶對 最適數가 存在함을 보인다. 提示된 方法들은 模擬實驗을 통하여 檢證된다.
