WLL(Wireless Local Loop) is a generic term for an access system that uses a wireless link to connect subscribers to their local exchange in place of conventional copper cable for a telephone network.
When muliple number of users try to use communications link for voice transmission through WLL network, a lot of random accesses come into the collision, that limits the channel performance. To maximize the performance of the access channel, paremeters of the random access procedure must be optimized.
In this paper, these procedures for voice connections in WLL environment are introduced and one of these is analyzed by using Markov chain. From the analysis, we can see that the performance of the access channel significantly depends on the time limit, by which the number of random accesses is restricted. From the simulation, we can see that determination of the expire time is of great importance when three procedures share same access channel. In addition, we evaluate the optimal parameters of the proposed protocol.
