Living in the age of changing life style by evolutionary communication technologies and media, multimedia is a leading information technology that proposes a new way of communication. The field of multimedia is tremendously growing as an industry that represents this era of information superhighway, supported by technology revolution, integration of broadcasting, electric consumer product, and telecommunication, progress in telecommunication technology, and growing number of communication tools.
In order to development of potentiality of multimedia and grow its value as industry, it is necessary that we establish an education system which can train the ability of building and designing multimedia environment as well as organized adjustment of multimedia design. It is the most important point that multimedia design is not just a expanded concept of established knowledge, but a whole new kind of method which has direct relation to network and industry as well as method of communication in integrated and complete way.
The main purpose of this study is to develop a curriculum of multimedia design that is based on understanding of its properties. For this purpose, the following research procedures were performed to understand multimedia design as one of the most important fields in communication technologies, and to discover its curriculum and contents.
The necessary factor from related technology and design education were selected and analyzed, in order to propose the curriculum content under the consideration of existence of co-factors, currently related fields, and the subjects included in their curricula. After investigating education theories which is adoptable for multimedia design curriculum, the current condition of related curriculum, social requirement, and the recent movement in education field are carefully considered to find out the subjects which are necessary for multimedia design. As a conclusion, curriculum of education system for multimedia design specialists was developed based on relational analysis among the subjects found.
