Many companies in the world have developed their capability by increasing the performance such as quality, delivery and cost. Their performance can be obtained by the coordination and configuration of effective supply chain management to off-set their weakness. One of the most important characteristics emphasized in commercial vehicle industry is the environmental regulation for the air pollution.
It is the time that one cannot survive without considering the production of environment affinitive product. It is necessary for automobile industry in Korea to take pre-active strategy to keep up with world-wide company. So, the purpose of this study is to propose environmental management system through supply chain dealing with a commercial vehicle manufacturer by explanatory case study. This thesis attempts to clarify the above topics through statistical analysis based on interviews and document such as quality data and vendor survey. The number of suppliers are 13 firms and mostly these firms supply the parts of plastic, and vinyl used for truck-cabin.
The results of the in-depth case study are as follows:
First, the physical asset which are from mother company has a strong significance for the supplier's quality performance.
Second, the space area on warehouse can be reduced by keeping the delivery on time. The delivery performance has the weak significance with geographical distance but little of significance with physical asset.
Third, an additional factor for A-company to increase the quality and delivery performance is long-term partnership, reducing the uncertainty and changing factors.
Finally, each department's activity required to develop the environmental performance based on research model is proposed.
