The overall goals of this study are to categorize environmental changes of future organization into the attributes, and also to investigate matched relationships between environmental attributes, organizational attributes, information technology and key success factors of future organization, respectively.
First of all, this study investigates the theory and design of organization based on a review of existing studies, and organizational structure, organizational culture, leader's role, and information technology are proposed as design parameters of future organization. In addition, this study explores organizational forms taken up as future organization in terms of definition, introduction background, types, and make a comparison among them on unit of analysis, primary goals, and design principles.
Second, this study classifies each dimension of design parameters and each attribute of future organization(Team-based Organization, Process-based Organization or Horizontal Organization, Network Organization, and Learning Organization) is conceptually defined on the dimensions of organizational structure.
Third, this study postulates propositional relationships between organizational attributes of future forms and each dimension of design parameters. Besides, this study generates matched relationships between environmental attributes of future organization, organizational attributes of future forms, information technology and key success factors of future Organization, respectively.
Finally, the propositional relationships are analyzed through the case study based on interviews with members and secondary-source data of a medical equipment manufacturer. Then, theoretical and managerial implications of this study are discussed and future research directions are proposed.
