This thesis presents a powerful and simple technique using optical thin film approach to design the equalizer which compensates the non-flat gain characteristic of the EDFA(erbium-doped fiber amplifier). It will be shown that the analysis and synthesis techniques of the matrix form approximation that have been studied extensively in the fields of optical thin film systems can also be applied for the design of the optical fiber grating filters, as well.
