The static flow rate and internal flow characteristics were investigated for a HPSI(High Pressure Swirl Injector),and basic data were presented for a design of a HPSI. Author used commercial program FLUENT to calculate the static flow rate and a internal flow characteristic of a non-swirl and swirl condition. For a non-swirl condition 2-D geometry was adopted, and for a swirl condition 3-D geometry was adopted. For a non-swirl condition, calculation variables are needle lift, ball diameter and smoothing tab radius. Auther predicted static flow rates for a HPSI(High Pressure Swirl Injector) using 2-D geometry calculation. A swirl condition shows that there exists air-core in the nozzle orifice and reduces the static flow rate comparing with a non-swirl condition.
