A virtual project team in asynchronous and distributed environment is certain to be a new working pattern, as working environment has been changing lately. A major requirement for the creation and management of the virtual team is distributed project coordination. A entire project cycle follows project proposal, planning, execution /change and evaluation process. It also includes efficient distribution and management of resource, communication among members, and change management.
In this thesis, a conceptual model to support collaborative and flexible project coordination for the virtual team is suggested in order to develop a computer-supported project environment. The model is focused on representing interaction mechanism among a manager and members that has been disregarded in existing researches so far. This thesis places emphasis on coordination among members rather than control and top-down management of project by one manager. A virtual software development team is presented as an application, and a WWW-based project coordination system is implemented based on the suggested model and the concrete scenario of a typical project cycle for the virtual team.
현대의 작업 환경은 과거와는 달리 시간적, 지리적으로 분산된 환경에서 프로젝트 단위로 수행됨에 따라 더 많은 협력과 팀워크를 요구하며, 이러한 가상 작업 환경에서 프로젝트 관리는 조직의 성공적 업무 수행을 위한 기본적인 요구 사항이라 할 수 있다. 프로젝트 관리란, 프로젝트의 계획, 조직, 수행, 평가 뿐만 아니라 자원의 효율적인 분배 및 관리, 구성원들간의 의사소통, 계속적인 변화 관리 등을 포함하는 포괄적인 개념이다.
본 연구에서는 네트웍상의 분산된 가상 작업 환경에서 구성원들이 프로젝트 진행 정보를 공유하면서 상호 협력적으로 프로젝트를 수행할 수 있는 컴퓨터 지원 환경의 구축을 목적으로, 관리자와 구성원 간의 상호 협력 관계를 중심으로 한 효율적인 프로젝트 관리를 위한 모형을 제시한다. 제시된 모형은 기존의 프로젝트 관리 시스템에서 강조되었던 관리자 위주의 수직적인 관리가 아닌 구성원과 관리자, 또는 구성원간의 의사소통을 통한 조정에 초점을 두고 있다. 또한 제시된 모형을 소프트웨어 개발 프로젝트 조직에 적용해 보고 인터넷 환경을 기반으로 한 프로젝트 관리 지원 시스템을 구현한다.
