As the needs for high speed communication increase, ATM switches are widely accpeted for its high speed and large bandwidth quality. But for succesful communication on ATM network, congestion control is a crucial element. In this thesis, we will present a congestion control algrithm based on Proportional Rate Control Algrithm for effective ABR data communication.
The proposed algorithm uses multi-stage strategy to degrade the beat down effect and enhance performance. To evalate performance of the proposed algorithm, we compare the proposed algoritm with EPRCA and PRCA using delay, queue size, and cell rate as metrics. The proposed algorithm shows better than that of PRCA.
