The government of Korea is planning to pull engineering technology as the same level of G7's until 2005. Thus the topic of the demand and supply of technical manpower in the Korean engineering industry became serious among the relavant issues. This thesis therefore aims at forecasting the difference between the demand and supply up to year 2010.
This research is composed of two parts, the first of which is the demand and supply of technical manpower in the industry. The magnitude of the manpower demand is forecast by its market growth in terms of total demand and sectoral demands that represents the technical manpower demands in 15 sectors of the industry. The technical manpower supply also considered through the typical sources as junior college, college, university, and graduate school. The second part analyzes the difference between demand and supply, and as a result, the efficient scheme in the national technical manpower supply program is finally suggested.
The analysis result shows that the technical manpower are expected to be in short both quantitatively and qualitatively. In particular, the technical manpower in the telecommunication and information sectors is expected to be in great demand through 2010.
