On the initial start-up of a hydrocarbons separation unit, eg. distillation and absorption tower, the column floods unexpetedly and prematurely. The cause of this problem was identified as foaming in the column.
Pressure drop is found to increase with increasing foam height in the column. Therefore, at given system, foam height is importance. Foam height is related to physical properties such as surface tension, density, and viscosity. And also related oepration conditions such as vapor velocity, liquid flow rate, and temperature.
Our study is to verifing the relationship between foam height and physical properties, or operating conditions.
