Global environmental issues, including climate change, have long been subjects of intense debate and concern. This study evaluates the impact of environmental policy announcements on Korean publicly traded stocks from 2008 to 2023. Grounded in the previous theoretical frameworks, it investigates the interplay between environmental policies and the financial performance of companies listed on the KOSPI. The research employs the event study method, analyzing stock returns in relation to announcements of 'Low-carbon Green Growth' and other major green policies, including the effects on companies with varying environmental impacts, greenhouse gas (GHG) costs, and ESG scores. The study extends previous research by testing three distinct hypotheses within the Korean market, examining the broader influence of green policy announcements on industry-grouped stocks.
기후 변화를 포함한 글로벌 환경 문제는 오랫동안 논쟁과 우려의 대상이 되어왔다. 본 연구는 2008년부터 2023년까지 한국의 상장 주식에 대한 환경 정책 발표의 영향을 조사한다. 기존 연구들의 이론적 틀에 기반하여, 환경 정책과 코스피에 상장된 기업들의 재무 성과 사이의 상호작용을 조사하며, 사건 연구 방법을 사용하여 '저탄소 녹색 성장' 및 기타 주요 녹색 정책 발표와 관련된 주식 수익률을 분석한다. 본 연구는 한국 시장 내에서 기업의 환경 영향, 온실가스 비용 및 ESG 점수로 기업들을 분류하여 세 가지 가설을 시험함으로써 이전 연구를 확장하고, 산업별 주식에 대한 녹색 정책 발표의 더 넓은 영향을 검토한다.
