Influenced by the research of Blanco et al. (2023), this study examines the hypothesis within the Korean stock market context, proposing that momentum investors are not a monolithic group but a diverse and coexisting collective, employing various formation periods. Our empirical analysis of the KOSPI market yields the following key insights: For one-month holding period returns, the performance of a momentum strategy employing intersecting stocks (O stocks), selected based on overlapping formation periods, marginally surpasses that of strategies utilizing a single formation period, though this advantage is largely not statistically significant. Therefore, the hypothesis does not hold. However, the risk characteristics of O stocks tend to strengthen the momentum effect. Analysis of Fama and MacBeth(1973) estimates reveals that, within the scope of one-month holding periods, O stocks, particularly those in the winning and losing deciles, have a significant impact on the returns of individual stocks.
