The global pet care market anticipates significant growth, yet the pet medical device market remains underdeveloped in comparison to market size. Notably, over 50% of elderly dogs suffer from a condition akin to canine Alzheimer's disease known as Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (CCDS). Currently, they rely on drug therapies that pose challenges such as side effects, high costs, and limited effectiveness. Consequently, there is a growing need for pet medical devices to address these issues. Recent studies suggest that non-invasive 40 Hz optical stimulation can reduce beta-amyloid protein, a key factor in Alzheimer's disease onset. In this study, an OLED electroceuticals platform is proposed and analyzed for the treatment of CCDS, with the aim of assessing behavioral changes related to CCDS when these electroceuticals are utilized through behavioral evaluations.
글로벌 펫케어 시장은 대규모 성장이 기대되지만 시장 규모에 비해 반려동물 의료기기 시장은 활성화되어 있지 않다. 특히 노견의 50% 이상이 인지 기능 장애 증후군이라는 강아지 치매를 앓고 있지만 약물치료에 의존하고 있고 그마저도 부작용, 높은가격, 치료의 한계 등의 문제가 있다. 따라서 이를 해소시켜 주는 반려동물 의료기기의 필요성이 대두되고 있는 상황이다. 이런 상황에서 최근 40 Hz의 비침습 광 시작 자극이 치매유발인자 중 하나인 베타-아밀로이드 단백질을 감소시킨다는 결과가 여럿 보고되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 강아지 인지 기능 장애 증후군 치료를 위한 OLED 전자약 플랫폼을 제안 및 분석하고 해당 전자약 사용시 인지 기능 장재 증후군과 관련된 행동에 변화가 일어나는지, 행동평가를 통해 살펴보고자 한다.
