Today, there is controversy over the use of generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) technology with adolescents. Adolescence is a critical time for developing self-thinking skills, and experts are concerned that adolescents will passively accept AI output. This study used a role-playing methodology to explore how adolescent users interact with generative AI. Participants enacted either user or AI roles, providing insights into the challenges they face in these collaborations and their expectations of AI partners. Next, a co-design workshop with design and development experts was conducted to identify key elements that enhance adolescents’ agency and independence in these interactions. Finally, this study proposes design guidelines for adolescent user-AI interaction aimed at empowering adolescents to facilitate collaboration with generative AI.
오늘날 청소년 사용자들이 생성형 인공지능 기술에 접근하는 것에 대한 논란이 있다. 청소년기는 자기 사고력 발달에 중요한 시기로, 일부 전문가들은 청소년들이 인공지능의 결과물을 수동적으로 받아들일 수 있다며 우려한다. 이에, 본 연구는 역할 놀이 방법론을 사용해 청소년 사용자들이 생성형 인공지능과 협력하는 경험을 폭넓게 탐색했다. 특히 청소년 참여자가 사용자와 인공지능의 역할을 직접 맡아 상호작용하는 과정을 살펴보며, 청소년 사용자들이 협력 과정에서 겪는 어려움과 이들이 기대하는 인공지능 파트너의 역할을 파악했다. 이후, 디자인 및 개발 분야의 전문가를 대상으로 코디자인 워크숍이 진행되었으며, 청소년 사용자의 특성을 고려해 이들의 주체적인 역량 강화를 위한 여러 디자인 요소가 논의되었다. 결론적으로, 본 연구는 청소년 사용자를 중심으로 이들이 생성형 인공지능을 주체적으로 활용할 수 있도록 돕는 사용자-인공지능 상호작용 디자인 가이드라인을 정리하여 제시한다.
