Reversible protonic ceramic electrochemical cells (R-PCECs) are low-temperature solid oxide electrochemical cells operating below 600°C, prized for their low activation energy and high energy conversion efficiency. However, their advancement faces challenges, notably the development of stable proton-conducting electrolytes resilient to complex operational conditions and chemical instability from pollutants like CO2 and H2O. To address this, research focuses on introducing various metal cations into the A- or B-sites of Ba-based perovskite oxide electrolyte structures. This thesis explores the application of the high-entropy stabilization concept to design robust proton-conducting high-entropy perovskite oxides (HEPOs), ensuring stability even under extreme temperatures and chemical environments. Moreover, a microwave-assisted sintering method was employed to apply the high-entropy electrolyte to reversible electrochemical cells. These findings indicate the high potential of high-entropy perovskite oxides as promising electrolyte materials for R-PCECs.
