This study delved into the adverse impacts stemming from news overload, information asymmetry, fake news dissemination, and confirmation bias within a multimedia news landscape. Its primary objective was to scrutinize the potential correlation between an individual's news consumption habits and their mental health. An online survey was administered targeting adults aged 18 to 64, yielding a dataset of 620 responses. Analytical methodologies such as descriptive statistics, comparative analysis, and regression analysis were employed to investigate the research inquiries. Key findings are outlined as follows: Firstly, within the spectrum of media channel usage, the utilization of traditional paper newspapers exhibited a positive correlation with mental well-being. Secondly, the group extensively exposed to political news exhibited a detrimental impact on their mental well-being. Thirdly, among the sub-factors of news recognition, trustworthiness showed a positive association with mental well-being. Individuals demonstrating higher trust in news exhibited statistically significant positive effects on their mental well-being.
