This paper examines whether option pricing using the concept of break-even volatility presented by Bruno, Dupire is also significant in the Korean option market. Break-even volatility refers to intrinsic volatility that causes the gain or loss of the delta hedge option position to be zero.
This paper designs a model that predicts the break-even volatility through two-step regression analysis. 366,924 transactions of index option over the last nine years have been used. This methodology is particularly useful in markets with low liquidity and differs from the existing option pricing through portfolio replication.
