Global companies are increasingly drawn to the potential of AI-based fully self-driving cars; however, the current lack of trust in the cars themselves poses a significant obstacle. In this regard, it is necessary to demonstrate the mechanism of individual trust in AI-based fully self-driving cars, but there is a lack of relevant research to date. Hence, this study analyzed what determinants affect the change of trust in AI-based fully self-driving cars from a cognitive psychology perspective. To this end, we designed a research model based on dual-process and trust transfer theories, and surveyed 473 Americans. The results of the analysis showed that seven of the nine hypotheses were significant. This study provides academic and practical implications by empirically analyzing the trust formation mechanism of AI-based fully self-driving cars.
AI 기반 완전자율주행차량은 글로벌 기업의 높은 관심을 받고 있으나, 현재 차량 자체에 대한 신뢰를 충분히 형성하지 못한 상황이다. 이러한 측면에서 AI 기반 완전자율주행차량에 대한 개인 신뢰형성 메커니즘을 실증할 필요가 있으나, 관련 연구가 부족하다. 따라서 본 연구는 인지심리학적 관점에서 어떠한 결정요인이 AI 기반 완전자율주행차량에 대한 신뢰 형성에 영향을 주는지 분석했다. 이를 위해 이중처리과정이론과 신뢰전이이론 기반의 연구모델을 설계하고 미국인 473명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시했다. 분석 결과, 총 9개 가설 중 7개의 가설이 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 AI 기반 완전자율주행차의 신뢰형성 메커니즘을 실증 분석함으로써 학술적, 실무적 유의한 시사점을 제공한다.
