This study tackles the environmental performance of companies by exploring the impact of supplier engagement on climate-related issues and corporate identification risks and opportunities. Using data from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), this study assesses the impact of suppliers’ engagement on environmental performance. It focuses on finding the variables that lead to changes in intensity figures (Scopes 1 and 2) and the efficacy of managerial interpretations of climate-related risks and opportunities. It shows that environmental performance is linked to the supplier’s engagement in the company’s climate-related issues and that the effect is augmented by the managerial interpretations of risks and opportunities.
본 연구는 공급업체의 기후위기 대응 수준 및 이로 인한 위험과 기회를 인지하는 수준을 탐구함으로써 기업의 환경 영향에 미치는 기여도를 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해탄소 공개 프로젝트(Carbon Disclosure Project)의 데이터를 사용하여 공급업체의 기후대응 수준이 각 회사의 환경영향에 미치는 기여도를 평가했다. 특히 탄소배출 강도(Scope 1 및 2)의 변화를 가져오면서 기후 관련 위험 및 기회에 대한 경영적 해석을 제공하는 변수를 찾는 것을 중심으로 분석을 수행했다. 분석 결과, 공급업체의 기후위기 대응 수준과 기업의 환경 영향은 서로 연관성이 있으며, 이에 대한 위험과 기회를 경영적으로 해석할 때 그 효과가 증대되는 것으로 나타났다.
