Since the start of the industrial revolution, carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels have been rising dramatically. This is causing a worldwide issue of global warming. The Paris Climate Agreement of 2015 represented a historic step to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. With that, competition has increased to develop eco-friendly machinery such as electric vehicles, which have become an expanded market. Tesla Motor, Inc has been working towards developing eco-friendly vehicles for the last 10 years and other automobile makers are transitioning into the market. In this thesis, we study the competitiveness of Hyundai Motors Group, Inc. in comparison with Tesla Motor, Inc. by analyzing their global value chains and intellectual property; this will help determine the company’s positioning in the market to provide business management suggestions for Hyundai Motors Group.
산업혁명이 시작된 이후 화석연료의 연소로 인한 이산화탄소 배출량이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 이는 지구 온난화라는 세계적인 문제를 일으키고 있다. 2015년 파리 기후 협정은 이산화탄소 배출을 줄이기 위한 역사적인 단계를 대표했으며, 이와 함께 친환경차 개발 경쟁이 치열한 시장이 되었다. 테슬라 자동차는 지난 10년간 친환경 자동차에 관련된 연구와 자동차를 개발해 왔으며 다른 자동차 제조업체들도 이 시장으로 전환하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 현대자동차그룹의 글로벌 가치사슬과 지식재산권 분석을 통해 현대자동차그룹의 경쟁력을 테슬라와 비교하여 연구하고, 현대자동차그룹에 대한 경영 방안을 논하고자 한다.
